HISTORY

THE PROPERTY AND THE BUSINESS

Dating back to the 18th century the majestic palace was initially used for the production of wool and silkworm breeding but, with the arrival of Napoleon, It underwent a progressive decay until after the mid-1800s when it started its reuse and its reconstruction on the remaining vestiges.
At the beginning of 1900, between the two wars, a tavern with grocery was opened with an attached bread oven and, immediately after the Second World War, the owner also began operating with the restaurant business.
In the early 60’s it was bought by a family of restaurateurs from Carnia who consolidated the vocation of the property making it famous throughout the Veneto and beyond, attracting a large number of artists of the time, including the arch. Carlo Scarpa, the sculptors Alessio Tasca and Ennio Pettenello. Two works of the latter two are still preserved, as evidence of their presence on site.
In 2013 the activity ceased and in 2015 the building was purchased by the current owners who intended first of all to bring to light the history, evident and also hidden, that the building had preserved and kept secret over the centuries.
In 2023 Debora and Matteo took over the management of the restaurant business and the tourist rental, giving back to the local the value that has always distinguished it.
